What are skin peels?

A skin peel is a chemical applied to the skin for the purpose of causing the epidermis to shed.  This is then replaced by new smoother skin.

What conditions does a skin peel treat?

Peels are used on the face, neck or hands to:

  • Reduce fine lines
  • Treat wrinkles, sun damage and ageing
  • Treat acne
  • Treat hyperpigmentation

Is it painful?

It is not painful but it may feel warm and you might experience a tingling sensation during the treatment.

Is there any downtime?

No, but you should avoid heat treatments for 12-48 hours after treatment, e.g. direct sun exposure, sun beds, saunas, hot baths and vigorous exercise.
